10/31/2008 - San Roque, Spain (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The second round of the Volvo Masters was suspended on Friday after a heavy, driving rain and windy conditions combined to make Valderrama unplayable.
Only three players in the field of 57 were able to finish their rounds before the weather suspension at 12:08 p.m. local time (7:08 ET). The final six groups, including first-round leader Soren Kjeldsen, had yet to tee off.
The round will resume on Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. local time (3:30 a.m. ET). The European Tour is hoping to get in 36 holes to avoid shortening its season-ending tournament to 54 holes, although more rain is expected on Saturday.
Kjeldsen, without teeing off, remained in the lead on the strength of his six- under 65 in the first round. Sergio Garcia, who is coming off a win at his tournament last week, is in second place at three-under.
Anthony Wall and David Lynn are tied for third place at two-under.
Among the players who began their second rounds on Friday morning, only two were under-par at the time of the suspension. Ross Fisher was two-under through 13 holes, moving to plus-three for the tournament. Gonzalo Fernandez- Castano was one-under through three holes, bringing him to plus-one overall.
Defending champion Justin Rose, who clinched the Order of Merit title with his win at this tournament last year, finished off a 10-over 81 to remain in last place at 19-over-par 161.
Nick Dougherty (73) and Alvaro Quiros (76) also finished their rounds.
Money leader Robert Karlsson, chasing his first Order of Merit crown, was one- over through four holes in his second round and plus-three overall for the tournament.
The player with the best chance at catching him for the money title, reigning British and PGA champion Padraig Harrington, was even-par through 13 holes and plus-five overall.
