11/28/2008 - Atlanta, GA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Ryan Suter scored 1:44 into overtime, lifting the Nashville Predators to a 4-3 win over the Atlanta Thrashers at Philips Arena.
In the extra frame, Shea Weber sent a lead pass to the left circle to Suter, who snuck a wrister between the pads of Johan Hedberg for the win.
"I just wanted to try and get it five-hole," said Suter about the goal. "I just tried to get and the five-hole is the easiest shot so that is where I aimed it. Luckily, it snuck through there."
Dan Hamhuis and Scott Nichol each had a goal and an assist while Jason Arnott also lit the lamp for the Predators, who have won two of their last three. Pekka Rinne made 22 saves and also had an assist in the win.
Nathan Oystrick had a goal and an assist while Ilya Kovalchuk and Todd White also scored for the Thrashers, who have dropped five of their last six. Hedberg made 22 saves in the loss.
"The shot hit me solid," said Hedberg about the goal. "I thought I had it between my legs, but apparently he found a hole and that's that."
With the score tied in the third, Nashville took the lead as Arnott wristed the puck past Hedberg during a scrum in front of the net at the 6:21 mark of the frame.
The Thrashers came right back and tied the game four minutes later as Oystrick slid a blind backhand pass from the right circle to the low left side of the net, where Kovalchuk snuck it home.
Nashville took the early lead while shorthanded as Vernon Fiddler left a drop pass in the slot for Hamhuis, who snuck a wrister past Hedberg 8:39 into the game.
Atlanta, though, tied the game with 3:21 left in the first on a fortunate break. Hamhuis had the puck behind his net and tried to send a hard pass. The puck, though, hit off of White at the right side of the net and snuck past Rinne.
The Predators took a 2-1 lead just 42 seconds into the second period on Nichol's third goal of the season.
The Thrashers, however, got the goal back at the midway point of the second as Eric Perrin fired a pass from the low right circle to the slot, where Oystrick wristed it home.
