11/26/2008 - Kansas City, MO (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Jonny Flynn hit the tying three-pointer in the waning seconds of regulation and Syracuse roared back from a 13-point deficit in the second half to beat 22nd-ranked Kansas, 89-81, in overtime to capture the CBE Classic.
Flynn scored 25 points and Eric Devendorf added 20 for the Orange (5-0), who scored 10 consecutive points in overtime to take control. Arinze Onuaku tallied 19 points, 12 rebounds and four blocked shots, and Paul Harris totaled 14 points and 14 boards in the victory.
Syracuse beat the last two national champions on consecutive nights. On Monday, the Orange topped Florida, 89-83. Kansas, last year's national champions, beat Washington to reach the final of this tournament.
Sherron Collins scored 21 for the Jayhawks (3-1), who were dealt their first regular season loss in Kansas City since January 2, 1983 when they fell to Ohio State. They had won 27 straight regular season games in KC.
Cole Aldrich had 15 points and 16 rebounds, while Marcus Morris contributed 11 points and 11 boards. Tyshawn Taylor scored 17 in defeat.
The contest was a rematch of the 2003 NCAA Championship game, a contest won by the Orange, 81-78, in New Orleans.
Tyrel Reed's three-ball expanded KU's lead to 51-38 with 15:18 remaining before Syracuse rallied.
Aldrich's jam extended Kansas' led to 69-63 inside of two minutes, but the Jayhawks couldn't hold the advantage. Syracuse scored the ensuing six points, all on free throws.
Aldrich then made a short jumper with 50.5 seconds left, and Kansas had a chance to possibly lock down the win as Collins raced in for a layup following a Jayhawks steal, but Harris came out of nowhere for the block with 30.7 seconds left.
One free throw from Aldrich made it a three-point game with 19.2 seconds left, but he couldn't contain Flynn defensively. Flynn drove by the big man and hit the tying shot with 6.4 seconds remaining. Collins then missed badly on a desperation shot from the left corner to send the game into OT.
A putback by Harris gave Syracuse a 77-76 edge, and Onuaku came up with a steal and hit a left hook for a three-point lead. After Collins air-balled a three-point try, Rautins made a shot from beyond the arc with 1 1/2 minutes left. A Devendorf layup moved the margin to 84-76, and Harris' free throw ended the 10-point surge.
The Jayhawks gained a double-digit lead midway through the first half and led 41-30 at intermission.

New York, NY – October 3, 2007 – The dress rehearsal is over! The NHL preseason has ended and now that fans have had a glimpse of what is to come it is time to hit the book! Stanley Cup odds are live at MySportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino.
The Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings remain on top of the odds charts after an impressive start in the preseason. Betting lines opened for both teams at 6-1 in June. Since then the Sens have fallen to 7-1 and the Red Wings are now caught in a pack including the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes, the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks, all at 10-1.
MySportsbook.com has also posted props on each team’s point total for the regular season. The Senators lead the charge at 108.5 followed by the Ducks at 106.5. Detroit will attempt a repeat for the prize as the Red Wings are deadlocked with the Predators at 104.5 a piece. The temporary loss of highly touted rookie Evgeni Malkin puts a lot of pressure on the stick of assistant captain Sidney Crosby - his lowly Pittsburgh Penguins are listed at 71.5.
Even if bettors are not brave enough to put their money on the underdog, an early bet on the favorites at sportsbook.com tends to produce bigger payouts than a mid-season wager. Placing a $1,000 bet last summer on the Detroit Red Wings or Ottawa Senators would have paid out to $8,000 and $10,000 respectively, opposed to a $2,500 or $3,000 payout at the beginning of the playoffs.

“You play to win the game!”
Those are the words of notoriously intense head coach Herman Edwards. Unfortunately, from a bettors’ perspective, most coaches don’t feel that way about the NFL preseason. August is a time to evaluate young players, finalize the depth chart and pray your star players stay healthy.
The trick to making money during the exhibition schedule is identifying coaches – like Edwards – who can’t stand losing even when there's nothing on the line.
The New York Jets betting won 15 of 21 preseason games and went 14-7 against the spread (ATS) during Edwards’s five-year tenure with the club. In his first season as the Kansas City Chiefs field boss, the team improved from 0-4 to 2-2.
Identifying win-a-holics like Edwards is a good start if you plan betting the preseason – even though most say you shouldn’t ... but what the hell do they know anyway?
Here’s a brief rundown of two teams that have a habit of winning during the second-stringers’ season, and another club that has a good chance of exceeding this year.
Playing in the media hub of North America can be stressful but the press can’t write anything negative about the way Tom Coughlin’s boys play in the preseason. The Giants won and covered all four games last summer, improving their record to 7-1 both straight up (SU) and against the spread over the last two years.
Coughlin has shown he’s not afraid to give his starters more time in the second preseason game than most of his colleagues, no doubt one of the reasons his team has been so dominant.
Bettors can count on America’s team early on. The Cowboys are 14-6 both SU and ATS since 2002 in warm-up contests. Former coach Bill Parcells, the coach of the team the last four years, has an intimidating, in-your-face presence – surely a reason Dallas has had so much early success.
The Big Tuna won’t be strolling the sidelines with looks of disgust, but new coach Wade Phillips will be anxious to make a good first impression for owner Jerry Jones.
Dallas plays the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos before things get serious. They then face the Houston Texans in their third contest (the game starters see most game time) and finish off with the Minnesota Vikings.
Expect a Dallas team able to walk away with another 3-1 preseason record.
This team scored a league-worst 12 offensive touchdowns last season, so the rookies and veterans each have something to prove. There’s a bounty of first-unit jobs up for grabs and plenty of bodies competing for those slots.
First-time head coach Lane Kiffin will be eager to impress an owner who employs the philosophy, “Just win, baby!”
The 32-year-old Kiffin has to command respect from a locker room full of players older than him. All of these factors should lead to purpose in preseason.
Don’t forget: before playing like a team that belonged in NFL Europe, Oakland went 4-1 (both SU and ATS) in exhibition games.
